The Master’s programme Molecular Biology & Biotechnology is a two year programme which consists of 120 ECTS and is taught in English. During the programme, you acquire in-depth knowledge and skills via upperlevel theoretical and practical training in such a way that you become highly competent in the field of Biomolecular Sciences and obtain excellent perspectives for an independent research career.
Molecular Biology & Biotechnology knows four main courses: the research track (P-track), the Science, Business and Policy track (M-track), the Chemical Biology specialization and the top programme Biomolecular Sciences.
- The P-track focuses entirely on research to prepare for a career in academia or other research institutes. The study programme therefore mainly consists of research projects, which focus on learning about conducting research by actually doing it.
- The M-track comprises one year of research and one year aimed at the development of policy and management-related understanding and skills to prepare for a career in a company, consultancy or policy organization.
- The Chemical Biology specialization focuses on chemistry in the living cell.
- The top programme Biomolecular Sciences focuses on teaching advanced biomolecular research techniques and prepares for a career in scientific research.
The P-track consists of two research courses of atleast 30 and 40 ECTS respectively, a colloquium of 5 ECTS, an essay of 5 ECTS and the remaining 40 ECTS are electives. The Chemical Biology specialization is a variation on the P-track with extra choice of chemistry subjects.
The M-track consists of one research course of 40 ECTS, an internship of 40 ECTS, an introduction course in science, business and policy worth 20 ECTS, a colloquium of 5 ECTS and the remaining 15 ECTS are electives.
The top programme Biomolecular Sciences consists of two research courses of atleast 30 and 40 ECTS respectively, a colloquium of 5 ECTS, an essay of 5 ECTS, 30 ECTS of courses focused on advanced research techniques and in-depth theoretic education and 10 ECTS of electives.

A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required; the Admission Board decides which students are admitted. Sufficient English proficiency is required.
