Double Degree programme in Transnational ecosystem-based Water Management

The 120 EC double degree programme in Transnational ecosystem-based Water Management is partly taught at the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) and partly at Radboud University (RU). It consists of three phases:

  • Semester 1 + 2: compulsory course modules (Sep-Jan RU, Feb-Aug UDE)
  • Semester 3: project water management and elective courses (UDE or RU)
  • Semester 4: Master’s thesis (UDE, RU or externally)

Module 7: Project water management (16 EC)

In this module, you’ll elaborate a small self-contained project or carry out research related to a project or activity in the field of water management. You’ll present the results in the form of an internship report and a presentation.

Module 8: Electives (14 EC)

Both universities offer a variety of subjects for deepening knowledge in related scientific fields, for example in ecology, microbiology, engineering and economics. You’ll have the opportunity to follow multiple courses for 14 EC in total.

Module 9: Master’s thesis (30 EC)

The final semester of this programme consists of a research internship including a Master’s thesis. This internship can be performed at one of the double degree programme universities, but most students choose to perform this internship at another university abroad or at a water management related organisation.
